Err, it takes a lot of practice. Lots of mecha have boxy limbs or parts, so if you can figure out how to draw boxes and rectangles from various angles and apply perspective to them, you should be in good shape. Keep proportions in mind (for example, if the arm is just at rest at its side and you want it proportioned like something from Code Geass, the tips of the fingers should be just past the knees; whereas if you want something like Gundam, the tips of the fingers should end a bit before the knees, like on a typical human). Study a lot of lineart to see how things connect, how the proportions are set up, how the light tends to fall, etc.
